Glutathione Benefits Medically reviewed by Debra Rose Wilson, Ph.D.,

Glutathione Benefits Medically reviewed by Debra Rose Wilson, Ph.D., MSN, R.N., IBCLC, AHN-BC, CHT — Written by Corey Whelan — Updated on September 18, 2018 Glutathione benefits Forms Side effects and risks Takeaway Overview Glutathione is an antioxidant produced in cells. It’s comprised largely of three amino acids: glutamine, glycine, and cysteine. Glutathione levels in the body may be reduced by a number of factors, including poor nutrition, environmental toxins, and stress. Its levels also decline with age. In addition to being produced naturally by the body, glutathione can be given intravenously, topically, or as an inhalant. It’s also available as an oral supplement in capsule and liquid form. However, oral ingestion of glutathione may not be as effectiveTrusted Source as intravenous delivery for some conditions.

Glutathione benefits

1. Reduces oxidative stress Oxidative stress occurs when there’s an imbalance between the production of free radicals and the body’s ability to fight them off. Too-high levels of oxidative stress may be a precursor to multiple diseases. These include diabetes, cancer, and rheumatoid arthritis. Glutathione helps stave off the impact of oxidative stress, which may, in turn, reduce disease. An article cited in Journal of Cancer Science and Therapy indicated that glutathione deficiency leads to increased levels of oxidative stress, which might lead to cancer. It also stated that elevated glutathione levels raised antioxidant levels and resistance to oxidative stress in cancer cells.

2. May improve psoriasis A small studyTrusted Source indicated that whey protein, when given orally, improved psoriasis with or without additional treatment. Whey protein had been previously demonstrated to increase glutathione levels. Study participants were given 20 grams as an oral supplement daily for three months. Researchers stated that more study is needed.

3. Reduces cell damage in alcoholic and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease Cell death in the liver may be exacerbated by a deficiency in antioxidants, including glutathione. This can lead to fatty liver disease in both those who misuse alcohol and those who don’t. Glutathione has been shown to improve protein, enzyme, and bilirubin levels in the blood of individuals with alcoholic and nonalcoholic chronic fatty liver disease. A studyTrusted Source reported that glutathione was most effective when given to people with fatty liver disease intravenously, in high doses. Participants in the study also showed reductions in malondialdehyde, a marker of cell damage in the liver. Another small studyTrusted Source found that orally administered glutathione had positive effects on people with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease following proactive lifestyle changes. In this study, glutathione was provided in supplement form in a dose of 300 milligrams per day for four months.

4. Improves insulin resistance in older individuals As people age, they produce less glutathione. Researchers at Baylor School of Medicine used a combination of animal and human studies to explore the role of glutathione in weight management and insulin resistance in older individuals. Study findings indicated that low glutathione levels were associated with less fat burning and higher rates of fat storing in the body. Older subjects had cysteine and glycine added to their diets to increase glutathione levels, which spiked within two weeks, improving insulin resistance and fat burning.

5. Increases mobility for people with peripheral artery disease Peripheral artery disease occurs when the peripheral arteries become clogged by plaque. It most commonly happens in the legs. One study reported that glutathione improved circulation, increasing the ability of study participants to walk pain-free for longer distances. Participants receiving glutathione rather than a saline solution placebo were given intravenous infusions two times daily for five days, and then analyzed for mobility. 6. Reduces symptoms of Parkinson’s disease Parkinson’s disease affects the central nervous system and is defined by symptoms such as tremors. It currently has no cure. One older study documented intravenous glutathione’s positive effects on symptoms such as tremors and rigidity. While more research is needed, this case report suggests that glutathione may help reduce symptoms, improving quality of life in people with this disease.

7. May help fight against autoimmune disease The chronic inflammation caused by autoimmune diseases can increase oxidative stress. These diseases include rheumatoid arthritis, celiac disease, and lupus. According to one studyTrusted Source, glutathione helps reduce oxidative stress by either stimulating or reducing the body’s immunological response. Autoimmune diseases attack the mitochondria in specific cells. Glutathione works to protect cell mitochondria by eliminating free radicals.

8. May reduce oxidative damage in children with autism Several studiesTrusted Source, including a clinical trial reported in Medical Science MonitorTrusted Source, indicate that children with autism have higher levels of oxidative damage and lower levels of glutathione in their brain. This increased susceptibility to neurological damage in children with autism from substances such as mercury. The eight-week clinical trial on children aged 3 to 13 used oral or transdermal applications of glutathione. Autistic symptom changes were not evaluated as part of the study, but children in both groups showed improvement in cysteine, plasma sulfate, and whole-blood glutathione levels.

9. May reduce the impact of uncontrolled diabetes Long-term high blood sugar is associated with reduced amounts of glutathione. This can lead to oxidative stress and tissue damage. A study found that dietary supplementation with cysteine and glycine boosted glutathione levels. It also lowered oxidative stress and damage in people with uncontrolled diabetes, despite high sugar levels. Study participants were placed on 0.81 millimoles per kilogram (mmol/kg) of cysteine and 1.33 mmol/kg glycine daily for two weeks.

10. May reduce respiratory disease symptoms N-acetylcysteine is a medication used to treat conditions such as asthma and cystic fibrosis. As an inhalant, it helps to thin mucus and make it less paste-like. It also reduces inflammation. N-acetylcysteine is byproduct of glutathione.

Glutathione is found in some foods, although cooking and pasteurization diminish its levels significantly. Its highest concentrations are in: raw or very rare meat unpasteurized milk and other unpasteurized dairy products freshly-picked fruits and vegetables, such as avocado, and asparagus.

Amazon Elements Try Amazon Elements Turmeric Complex for joint pain relief Feel the positive effects of turmeric and organic ginger on your immune system. Support your diet with natural supplements by Amazon Elements, free of artificial flavors and chemical preservatives.

Glutathione contains sulfur molecules, which may be why foods high in sulfur help to boost its natural production in the body. These foods include: cruciferous vegetables, such as broccoli, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, and bok choy allium vegetables, such as garlic and onions eggs nuts legumes lean protein, such as fish, and chicken Other foods and herbs that help to naturally boost glutathione levels include: milk thistle flaxseed guso seaweed whey Glutathione is also negatively affected by insomnia. Getting enough rest on a regular basis can help increase levels. Side effects and risks A diet rich in glutathione-boosting foods does not pose any risks. However, taking supplements may not be advisable for everyone. Talk to your doctor about glutathione to determine if it’s right for you. Possible side effects may include: abdominal cramps bloating trouble breathing due to bronchial constriction allergic reactions, such as rash Takeaway Glutathione is a powerful antioxidant that’s made in the body’s cells. Its levels decrease as a result of aging, stress, and toxin exposure. Boosting glutathione may provide many health benefits, including reduction of oxidative stress.

CBD vs. THC: What Are the Differences? Why it Matters.

Concern about the dangers of marijuana abuse led to the banning of cannabinoids for use in the U.S. and many other countries in the 1930s and 1940s.

It took decades until they came to be considered again as compounds of value, and even now their uses are highly restricted. What Is Cannabis? Cannabis is a naturally growing herb that has been used for thousands of years to treat health conditions

. It’s also used in perfumes, soaps, candles and some foods. Cannabis originated in Central Asia, but today it’s grown worldwide. The term cannabis (popularly known as marijuana) is used to describe a product of the Cannabis sativa plant that is bred for its potent, sticky glands that are known as trichomes. These trichomes contain high amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (called THC), which is the cannabinoid most known for its psychoactive properties. Cannabis Components Cannabinoids are a group of 21-carbon–containing terpenophenolic compounds produced uniquely by cannabis species. These plant-derived compounds may be referred to as phytocannabinoids. Although delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (known as THC) is the primary psychoactive ingredient, other known compounds with biologic activity are cannabinol, cannabidiol, cannabichromene, cannabigerol, tetrahydrocannabivarin and delta-8-THC. Cannabis vs. Hemp Hemp oil — obtained by pressing benefit-rich hemp seeds — is slightly different than cannabis oil, although they both come from the same genus, Cannabis, and the same species, Cannabis Sativa. The term hemp is used to describe a Cannabis Sativa plant that contains only trace amounts of THC. Hemp is a high-growing plant that’s commonly grown for industrial uses, such as oils and topical ointments, as well as fiber for clothing, construction, paper and more. Cannabis Oil vs. CBD Oil Cannabis oil and CBD oil are not the same thing. So what is CBD oil? Cannabidiol (CBD) oil has a high concentration of cannabidiol, while cannabis oil contains both CBD and THC. CBD oil is created by extracting CBD from either the cannabis or hemp plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. CBD does not produce a euphoric “high” or psychoactive effect because it doesn’t affect the same receptors as THC. CBD cannabis oil or CBD hemp oil are both said to be non-psychoactive. However, it gets confusing because any oil that is CBD-dominant is considered a CBD oil, and it produces different effects from THC-dominant cannabis oils. Most CBD oil comes from industrial hemp, which typically contains more CBD than marijuana. History According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, cannabis use dates back at least 3,000 years. It was introduced into the Western mindset in the 1840s by W.B. O’Shaughnessy, a surgeon who learned of its beneficial properties while working in India for the British East Indies Co. In 1937, the U.S. Treasury Department introduced the “Marihuana Tax Act,” which imposed a levy of $1 per ounce for “health-focused” use of cannabis and $100 per ounce for recreational use. This was opposed by physicians who were not required to pay a special tax for prescribing cannabis, use special order forms to obtain it and keep records detailing its professional use. The American Medical Association believed that evidence of cannabis’ harmful effects was limited and the act would prevent further research into its worth health-wise. By 1942, cannabis was removed from the U.S. Pharmacopoeia because of persistent concerns about its potential to cause harm. Final Thoughts While studies have certainly shown the benefits of cannabis used for some health purposes, there are many strains of cannabis, and they are not all equal. If you are using cannabis oil, make sure it is purchased through a reputable and lab-tested company. Last but not least, remember that cannabis is a very powerful oil, and only small amounts are needed for it to have a powerful effect on the body and mind.

Diamond MCOA and CGBL Are At It Again. Diamond Mining Within the Cannabis Industry.

May 25, 2021

Cannabis Global, Inc. and Marijuana Company of America today announce the funding of a state-of-the-art cannabis extract laboratory in Lynwood, California.

Cannabis Glogal

The two companies recently created a joint venture, MCOA Lynwood Services, Inc., which is majority-owned by Cannabis Global, Inc., which will oversee operations and marketing of cannabis products produced by the venture. “One of our top priorities at the new laboratory is to produce a crystalline form of THC-A called “Diamonds” to be sold into the wholesale and retail markets and for use on our own branded products,” commented Arman Tabatabaei, CEO of Cannabis Global.

“Production of cannabis Diamonds, which is often called Diamond Mining within the cannabis industry, is highly specialized requiring not only specific licensing and permitting but also state-of-the-art extraction equipment and specialized scientific personnel. With our funding now secure and the technical talent in place, we are now moving quickly to turn up operations.”

The laboratory will be operated by Cannabis Global’s subsidiary, Natural Plant Extract of California (NPE), under its Type 7 cannabis manufacturing permit. NPE will manage the laboratory and manufacturing operations with both MCOA and CBGL personnel providing consulti

ng and business management services.

The State of California limits the issuances of Type 7 permits for production of cannabis extracts utilizing volatile substances. NPE has invested heavily in building safety and the environmental retrofits required for Type 7 permitting, and recently renewed its permit for this type of cannabis extraction.

Last year, according to data published by MJBizDaily, the cannabis concentrate product category was up by more than 40%, representing one of the fastest-growing cannabis sub-categories.

Pricing of products in the category also rose last year by five percent, primarily driven by increased demand as consumers continued to move away from vape products due to health concerns, and as consumers in mature markets, such as Los Angeles, are increasingly demanding more potent cannabis products. “Diamonds” is a cannabis industry term for crystal formations of THC-A cannabinoids.

Diamonds are produced as THC-A molecules clump together creating crystalline faceted formations that resemble diamonds. NPE plans to offer its Diamond products directly to California cannabis retailers and wholesale markets via its sister company, Northern Lights Distribution, and to enhance its own manufactured products, under the Northern Light brand name.

Mr. Tabatabai, continued, “Because we will be producing our own concentrates to feed our own brands while also acting as our own distributor, this new laboratory and the products it will produce opens up a host of new revenue and vertical integration opportunities for our companies.”

About Cannabis Global, Inc. Cannabis Global, Inc. is a Los Angeles-based, fully audited and reporting Company with the U.S. Securities & Exchange Commission, trading under the stock symbol CBGL. We are an emerging force in the cannabis marketplace with a growing product and proprietary intellectual property portfolio. We are marketing and producing Comply Bag™, an innovative solution for cannabis storage, transport and tracking, and are the developer and marketer of the Hemp You Can Feel™ brand.

Our subsidiary, Natural Plant Extract (NPE), is a Southern California licensed cannabis manufacturer and distributor which licenses our technologies to produce edibles for the cannabis marketplace. Cannabis Global has filed three non-provisional and multiple provisional patents for cannabis infusion and nanoparticle technologies and continues an active research & development program.

Memorial Day 2021 – A Time To Remember Those Who Gave All For U.S. of America

Memorial Day 2021

Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military.

Memorial Day 2021 will occur on Monday, May 31.

Originally known as Decoration Day, it originated in the years following the Civil War and became an official federal holiday in 1971.

Many Americans observe Memorial Day by visiting cemeteries or memorials, holding family gatherings and participating in parades.

Unofficially, it marks the beginning of the summer season.

Early Observances of Memorial Day The Civil War, which ended in the spring of 1865, claimed more lives than any conflict in U.S. history and required the establishment of the country’s first national cemeteries.

By the late 1860s, Americans in various towns and cities had begun holding springtime tributes to these countless fallen soldiers, decorating their graves with flowers and reciting prayers.

Did you know?

Each year on Memorial Day a national moment of remembrance takes place at 3:00 p.m. local time.

It is unclear where exactly this tradition originated. Numerous different communities may have independently initiated the memorial gatherings.

The records show that one of the earliest Memorial Day commemorations was organized by a group of formerly enslaved people in Charleston, South Carolina less than a month after the Confederacy surrendered in 1865.

In 1966 the federal government declared Waterloo, New York, the official birthplace of Memorial Day.
