8 – 8 – 2021 Happy CBD Day! From Inspirational Technologies

About National CBD Day The CBD industry celebrates National CBD Day on August 8 every year.

The CBD community continues to commemorate CBD Day, which focuses on educating and creating awareness about CBD among consumers through media coverage and social media.

Issues covered include ongoing studies, CBD uses, and its benefits. However, CBD brands also provide deals to enjoy during this holiday.

CBD is a derivative of hemp, which has faced its share of political problems, with leaders banning its use.

The hemp plant has been around for centuries, with growers using it for fiber and other things. However, it was until 2018 that hemp became legal federally.

The 2018 Farm Bill that became law recognizes hemp as legal if it has 0.3% THC or less.

The CBD industry continues to gain popularity as more people learn of CBDโ€™s potential wellness benefits.

Today, you can utilize CBD in a variety of ways. Users can consume CBD in the form of oil or capsules or choose delicious gummies, which come in various mouth-watering flavors.

Brands also provide CBD topicals like creams and salves that offer targeted relief on affected body parts only.

However, preliminary research has shown CBD to help with pain, stress, anxiety, and inflammation, among other benefits. However, more studies are needed to provide additional data on CBDโ€™s capability to alleviate such health conditions and others.

CBD vs. THC: What Are the Differences? Why it Matters.

Concern about the dangers of marijuana abuse led to the banning of cannabinoids for use in the U.S. and many other countries in the 1930s and 1940s.

It took decades until they came to be considered again as compounds of value, and even now their uses are highly restricted. What Is Cannabis? Cannabis is a naturally growing herb that has been used for thousands of years to treat health conditions

. Itโ€™s also used in perfumes, soaps, candles and some foods. Cannabis originated in Central Asia, but today itโ€™s grown worldwide. The term cannabis (popularly known as marijuana) is used to describe a product of the Cannabis sativa plant that is bred for its potent, sticky glands that are known as trichomes. These trichomes contain high amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (called THC), which is the cannabinoid most known for its psychoactive properties. Cannabis Components Cannabinoids are a group of 21-carbonโ€“containing terpenophenolic compounds produced uniquely by cannabis species. These plant-derived compounds may be referred to as phytocannabinoids. Although delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (known as THC) is the primary psychoactive ingredient, other known compounds with biologic activity are cannabinol, cannabidiol, cannabichromene, cannabigerol, tetrahydrocannabivarin and delta-8-THC. Cannabis vs. Hemp Hemp oil โ€” obtained by pressing benefit-rich hemp seeds โ€” is slightly different than cannabis oil, although they both come from the same genus, Cannabis, and the same species, Cannabis Sativa. The term hemp is used to describe a Cannabis Sativa plant that contains only trace amounts of THC. Hemp is a high-growing plant thatโ€™s commonly grown for industrial uses, such as oils and topical ointments, as well as fiber for clothing, construction, paper and more. Cannabis Oil vs. CBD Oil Cannabis oil and CBD oil are not the same thing. So what is CBD oil? Cannabidiol (CBD) oil has a high concentration of cannabidiol, while cannabis oil contains both CBD and THC. CBD oil is created by extracting CBD from either the cannabis or hemp plant and then diluting it with a carrier oil like coconut or hemp seed oil. CBD does not produce a euphoric โ€œhighโ€ or psychoactive effect because it doesnโ€™t affect the same receptors as THC. CBD cannabis oil or CBD hemp oil are both said to be non-psychoactive. However, it gets confusing because any oil that is CBD-dominant is considered a CBD oil, and it produces different effects from THC-dominant cannabis oils. Most CBD oil comes from industrial hemp, which typically contains more CBD than marijuana. History According to the U.S. National Library of Medicine, cannabis use dates back at least 3,000 years. It was introduced into the Western mindset in the 1840s by W.B. Oโ€™Shaughnessy, a surgeon who learned of its beneficial properties while working in India for the British East Indies Co. In 1937, the U.S. Treasury Department introduced the โ€œMarihuana Tax Act,โ€ which imposed a levy of $1 per ounce for โ€œhealth-focusedโ€ use of cannabis and $100 per ounce for recreational use. This was opposed by physicians who were not required to pay a special tax for prescribing cannabis, use special order forms to obtain it and keep records detailing its professional use. The American Medical Association believed that evidence of cannabisโ€™ harmful effects was limited and the act would prevent further research into its worth health-wise. By 1942, cannabis was removed from the U.S. Pharmacopoeia because of persistent concerns about its potential to cause harm. Final Thoughts While studies have certainly shown the benefits of cannabis used for some health purposes, there are many strains of cannabis, and they are not all equal. If you are using cannabis oil, make sure it is purchased through a reputable and lab-tested company. Last but not least, remember that cannabis is a very powerful oil, and only small amounts are needed for it to have a powerful effect on the body and mind.

COA’S – Donโ€™t Pay Without the COA for Your CDB

What is a certificate of analysis?

A certificate of analysis (COA) is a lab report on the chemical make-up (e.g., contents) of a product. In the context of Industrial Hemp extracts, the COA reports on the cannabinoid, terpene, and contaminant profile of CBD products. COAโ€™s are used to verify that the contents of the product are matched to how it is advertised. These reports are important for verifying that hemp extracts have less than 0.3% THC by weight, as determined by the definition of Industrial Hemp in the law. OUR Premium, THC-Free products are supported by COAโ€™s such as the one shown below, which indicate โ€˜non-detectโ€™ levels of THC. Also, tests are carried out to check for dangerous compounds such as heavy metals or pesticides and reported in the certificate to ensure the safety of the consumers.

Why are COAs important? A study conducted in 2017 found that almost 70% of online CBD products are mislabeled, either having substantially more or less CBD than advertised. For nutraceutical applications, knowing the exact potency and ingredients is extremely important. For example, manufacturers could claim a CBD product contains no THC, or claim a certain potency in their product, but since there is little oversight, the opportunity to โ€œfudge the numbersโ€ is compounded. This could be a major issue for people who are choosing products without THC in order to avoid its psychoactive side effects or pass a drug test because of a job. In an unregulated industry, with new CBD companies popping up everywhere, it is difficult for customers to know exactly what they are paying for. Labeling alone is not reliable, especially when products are sold online to customers who do not fully understand the ins and outs of the industry. This is the reason COAโ€™s are standard practice for reliable, law-abiding CBD manufacturers. They create transparency for consumers as well as regulators to clearly identify exactly what is and is not inside a given hemp extract.

How do I find the COA for my CBD product?

There are a few ways to find COAs. Most companies will include them on their website, or provide them to customers upon request. Make sure they are up to date and match the batch number listed on your product. Indiana, Texas, Utah, and Florida have passed state laws that require QR codes on all CBD products. Although other states have not yet passed similar laws, most CBD companies are transitioning to include QR codes on their packaging to increase transparency and make it easy for customers to find this information. Customers can use their phones to scan the code on the package and link directly to the COA specific to the product that the code is printed on.

How do I read a COA?

CBD hemp third party certificate of analysis COA for hempSmartย

Certificate Of Analysis (COA) Page 1 of 8 Be sure all pages are represented. This page shows company and product description.

The first thing you want to check on a COA is that the company who performed the lab test is not the same company who is selling the product. This is called a โ€˜third partyโ€™ test and it is to ensure transparency in the results. If it was only tested by the company selling the product, there could be bias in the report. *This description is specific to the example COA provided by this third-party lab. COAs may vary from lab to lab, but all of the elements described should be present, regardless of format. On the top left, there is information to identify the sample and batch which it came from. On the top right, the address and contact information of the company selling the product is listed. The QR code in the top center can be scanned by anyone to verify the authenticity of the report. It links to the lab that performed the analysis so consumers can cross check to make sure the COA was not fabricated.

The bottom half of the first page shows the cannabinoid profile of the sample, listing the cannabinoids which were detected as well as their concentration. This is probably the most important section of the COA because it tells consumers exactly which cannabinoids are present and at what potency. The ID column of the chart indicates which cannabinoids were tested for. D9-THC is the psychoactive component which must be lower than .3 weight % (middle column) in order for it to be legal. โ€˜NDโ€™ stands for โ€˜non-detectโ€™ meaning there was such a miniscule amount, if any, in the sample that the laboratory instruments could not detect it.

Essentially, this means it is not present in the product.

Our products which are all labeled THC-Free are tested to have ND levels of THC. This specific report is analyzing a CBD oil said to have no THC, which is reflected in this table. CBD, CBDV, and CBG were detected in the analysis and their concentration is reported in milligrams per gram of the product. This โ€˜Conc.โ€™ column is the potency of the tested CBD oil, which should be compared to the CBD concentrations advertised on the label of the product.

On the right of the chart is a bar graph corresponding to the relative amounts of the various cannabinoids in the product sample.

Page 2 of this COA
Showing the Major and Minor Findings

THC-Free broad spectrum hemp oils should have CBD, other cannabinoids such as CBG or CBN, but non-detect levels of THC. Full spectrum hemp extracts should have many cannabinoids including D9-THC, as long as the THC weight % is below 0.3%. Heavy Metal Analysis hemp derived CBD oil third party certificate of analysis for pesticide analysis The heavy metal analysis chart indicates which metals were tested for with the chemical symbol and name. โ€˜Conc.โ€™ is the concentration of the metal measured in the sample. โ€˜Unitsโ€™ refers to the measurement size, in this case micrograms per kilogram (1,000,000,000 micrograms in 1 kilogram). MDL is the lower limit of detection for the lab instruments. โ€˜Use Limitsโ€™, the most important of which being โ€˜Ingestionโ€™, is the amount determined by the state Department of Public Health and U.S. Pharmacopeia that is safe to ingest per day. In the case of this report, lead is the only metal detected and it is well below the allowed limit. 11 micrograms per kilogram were detected while the standardized safety limit is 1000. Pesticide Analysis hemp derived CBD oil third party certificate of analysis for pesticide analysis.ย

Another report in the COA is the pesticide analysis, which lists a number of common pesticides tested for in the sample. The unit in this case is โ€˜ppbโ€™ or parts per billion. LLD is the โ€œlower limit of detectionโ€ based on each specific pesticide, and the โ€˜Limitsโ€™ column is the maximum amount allowed for consumption based on safety regulations established in the State of California (these values may vary slightly depending on the specific state or federal guidelines identified in the report). The โ€˜Statusโ€™ column indicates PASS if the sample is under the legal limit or NO PASS if the levels are above the limit. In this report, no pesticides were detected.

The terpene profile analysis shows which terpenes were detected in the sample and the relative amount of each by weight percent. Terpenes are what give hemp products their unique flavors and aromas. The variation in kind and abundance can give consumers information on how it may smell or taste.

Donโ€™t Pay Without the COA

In an industry that is quickly expanding with limited regulation, it is extremely important that as a consumer, you know exactly what you are purchasing.

Certificates of analysis provide transparency and assurance to consumers so they can be confident in what they are buying.

Although COAs vary in appearance depending on the lab, the basic information presented in this article should be present on any third party

COA. Dates and product batch numbers should be listed so consumers can make sure that the report is up to date and specific to the batch that their product is from. The cannabinoid profile should match the product description, including the type of extract (broad spectrum, full spectrum, etc.) and potency of the product.

Heavy metal and pesticide analysis can be used to ensure that the hemp was grown safely and its extract is safe to consume.

Companies which do not provide up to date certificates of analysis should be avoided.

COA fraud also exists in the industry and precautions should be taken in order to make sure your COA has not been fabricated.ย

Hemptastic Findings – Hemp Is The New Super Crop for 2022

Our History With Hemp Is On The Path To Understanding

Hemp has always been a better natural resource than trees. The truth is, because hemp was not legal throughout most of the world for the last 80 years, it was never given a chance to compete on an equal footing with wood, or any other natural fibers. I learned that the stalkโ€™s bast fiber is 10 times stronger than the fiber in Douglas Fir, the most revered softwood fiber for structural framing in the North American construction industry.

Trees mature in 40 years compared to Hemp in 91 Days and Hemp Fiber is 10 times stronger.

In terms of quality and performance, hemp fiber stands out as probably the strongest and most durable fiber in nature. In addition to being 10 times stronger than wood fiber, hemp is four times stronger than cotton. Industrial hemp is lighter and less expensive to process than wood. One acre of hemp planted for 40 years has 400% more usable fiber than one acre of trees through their 40-year lifecycle. Hemp is the most efficient biomass source in the world. In less than 91 days, the plant can generate stalk to the stage where its fibers have contained their full CO2 content and are ready to be properly processed.

Industrial Hemp Field

More and more scientific publications underscore hempโ€™s other important characteristics: high absorption properties, IR and UV radiation protection capacity and natural low flammability. Further new, promising tests also indicate natural anti-bacterial properties of hemp fibers, believed to result from the alkaloids, cannabinoids and other bioactive or phenolic compounds. Planet friendly Hemp also represents an alluring investment opportunity for those companies looking for an effective way to โ€œdecarbonizeโ€ their goods โ€“ in other words, decreasing their carbon emissions profile. Because of the strong carbon storage capability based on its high biomass content, and the low levels of water it needs, hemp is probably the most sustainable fiber of all.

Hemp plants have an exceptionally high capacity to draw out and contain CO2, which is much higher than trees. According to several scientific articles, one acre of a common hemp varietal can absorb 8.88 tons of CO2 annually, whereasย an acre of forest sequesters roughly 2.5 tons โ€“ only about 30% as much.

But wait, thereโ€™s more, research has shown that, hemp varietals being grown for fiber generally yield up to five times the biomass of leftover โ€œseedโ€ stalk โ€“ up to 42 tons โ€“ and that the CO2 displacement when hemp is substituted for traditional raw materials, in end products such as plastic, textiles, steel, construction and other materials, can reduce CO2 by as much as 200 tons!

Although plant life produces oxygen in the atmosphere through photosynthesis, this natural process decreases as plants age. It would seem logical that big trees with considerable leaf area would generate more oxygen, especially because they are alive much longer than a hemp plant, however this is untrue.

While there is actually a decline in the capacity of older and larger trees to produce oxygen, hemp, on the other hand, is a fast-growing, large plant which is harvested at only 12 weeks. Well before it can be โ€œaged,โ€ the plant is pumping oxygen full throttle. This is ideal for shared crop agronomy.

Truly renewable Considering that less than 5% of the United Statesโ€™ virgin forest remains, it only makes sense to plan for the future and protect what is left of this once naturally balanced resource by growing hemp. We can help to regain that balance by planting, harvesting and processing hemp into the many cellulosic applications for which trees have been predominantly used since wood-based paper replaced paper made from hemp in the 1930s across North America.

Cellulose is the main chemical that adds strength to paper and other composite products such as chipboard and particleboard. With a concentration of 72%, hemp bast has a higher concentration of cellulose than wood, which provides only 42%.

Essentially, the more cellulose a plant contains, the fewer chemicals are needed to make paper. Hemp bast has the highest cellulose content of all plants.

Not only does hemp grow at a much faster rate than trees, but its high cellulose content allows for a faster, lower conversion cost and doesnโ€™t require the significant quantities of toxic chemicals required for wood processing.

Environmentally Helpful

Making paper from wood requires polluting agents such as sulphuric acid, bleach and chlorine to remove its non-cellulose fiber mass during the pulping process. Hemp fibers, on the other hand, can be whitened using hydrogen peroxide, which doesnโ€™t chemically damage water. In addition, compared to its wood pulp counterpart, paper made from hemp fibers resists decomposition and does not yellow or brown with age. Hemp fiber can play a pivotal role in commerce and economic development. But the most important thing governments need to understand is hempโ€™s potential for healing the planet and advancing human health.

As hemp fiber gains momentum itโ€™s not a question of phasing out other fibers and completely replacing them with hemp. The interesting feature of the โ€œhemp business modelโ€ is that the synergies with existing industrial capacities are virtually unlimited.
