HHC is a THC relatively long known to science. However – Just What is HHC?

Following the wild success of delta 8 THC as a legal alternative to the more controlled availability of delta 9 THC, the cannabis industry has sought other less-known cannabinoids to compete in the diverse cannabis marketplace.

One of the newest and most promising is hexahydrocannabinol, usually shortened to HHC.

What is HHC?

Hexahydrocannabinol structure.png

C21H32O2

HHC is a THC relative long known to science, but until recently not often discussed by cannabis users.

HHC is a minor cannabinoid; it occurs naturally in cannabis, but in amounts too small to make extraction cost-effective. Since commercial production of HHC is just getting off the ground, it’s still not widely known.

Most cannabinoids can be converted to other cannabinoids by altering the chemistry of the molecules. Like delta 8 THC and delta 10 THC, commercial HHC is made from hemp-derived CBD in a lab through chemical processes. HHC has one major legal advantage over delta 8 and delta 10: it isn’t called THC.

trehouse hhc gummies

TRĒ House HHC Gummies

The high-potency TRĒ house HHC gummies contain 25 mg of HHC per serving, for a total of 500 mg per pack of 20. They offer HHC’s signature euphoric and energetic high and come in a delicious and refreshing strawberry burst flavor. Go easy on them because, as TRĒ House say, “you *will* feel it”.

How is HHC produced?

HHC was discovered in the 1940s by chemist Roger Adams. He created HHC by adding hydrogen to the THC molecule and altering its physical properties. The process, called hydrogenation, is first described in a 1947 patent document.

Hydrogenation modifies the structure of delta 9 THC by replacing a double bond with two hydrogen atoms, which changes its molecular weight and also makes it more stable. According to Mark Scialdone, a chemist and BR Brands Chief Science Officer, hydrogenation improves “stability and resistance to thermo-oxidative breakdown”—which means HHC has a longer shelf life and is less prone to damage caused by UV light and heat.

Does HHC get you high? Does it have side effects?

This is kind of tricky. Although HHC isn’t technically a THC, it does produce similar effects—if you use enough of it. When it’s produced in the lab, an HHC batch is a mix of active and inactive HHC molecules. The active HHC binds well with your body’s cannabinoid receptors; the others don’t.

Manufacturers haven’t yet figured out a cost-effective way to separate high-potency HHC from its low-potency twin, so commercial HHC—which is a mix of the two forms—may be something of a crapshoot for the buyer. But HHC does have noticeable effects. Reports from users generally describe the HHC high as being somewhere between delta 8 and delta 9 THC.

Pretty much everything we know about HHC’s effects and side effects is anecdotal. That said, users report the same set of side effects familiar to delta 9 THC users: anxiety and paranoia, dry mouth, dry and red eyes, hunger, and insomnia.

Will HHC show up in a drug test?

It appears that HHC may not break down in the body in the same way as THC. Unlike the delta-8, delta-9, and delta-10 forms of THC, there is some evidence that HHC doesn’t metabolize into 11-hydroxy-THC, which is the breakdown substance many drug panels test for.

But that hasn’t been studied and isn’t certain. So far, no one knows for sure that HHC won’t leave evidence of use in your blood, urine or hair. If your employer tests for drug use, we suggest you not risk your job by using HHC.

Does HHC have medical benefits?

HHC hasn’t been widely studied, unlike more abundant cannabinoids like delta 9 THC or CBD, but there has been some promising research. A 2011 study showed that some synthetic analogs of hexahydrocannabinol (HHC) “strongly inhibited breast cancer cell-induced angiogenesis and tumor growth.” Japanese researchers published a paper in 2007 describing HHC’s impressive pain-blocking capability in mice. But it is probably too early to say whether HHC has great promise as a therapeutic drug.

Is HHC legal and will it stay legal?

The 2018 Farm Bill federally legalized the hemp plant and all its derivatives, unless the plant or anything made from it contains delta 9 THC at a concentration higher than 0.3 percent. HHC technically isn’t THC at all, so it should skirt federal scrutiny—right? Maybe.

Even though HHC is found naturally in the cannabis plant, that’s not where commercial HHC comes from. It’s a lab-produced product made by hydrogenating hemp-derived cannabinoids under pressure with a catalyst like palladium. Scientists at the National Cannabis Industry Association call the result a “semi-synthetic” cannabis compound.

That could mean HHC will get the attention of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). A cannabinoid expert at biotech company Creo thinks HHC falls under the Federal Analogue Act, which automatically classifies analogs of Schedule 1 drugs as Schedule 1 drugs themselves. If the DEA agrees, HHC could have a very short commercial heyday.

HHC could be banned by states too. This is likely if HHC becomes popular, and especially if it threatens the legal cannabis market, as we’ve seen happen with delta 8 THC. But so far HHC is probably too niche to catch the eye of state lawmakers.

Where can HHC be found?

Reportedly, few U.S. manufacturers produces HHC and offers it wholesale. We aren’t sure that’s true, but it’s a fact that not many companies are producing it. Consequently, only a handful of companies are offering HHC at retail, and they haven’t been doing it for long.

A quick Google search brought up about a dozen online retailers offering a variety of HHC products.

Most sellers offer vape carts filled with HHC oil, and many have gummies.

Less common but definitely available are disposable HHC vapes, tinctures for oral consumption, and concentrates for dabbing. At least one or a few companies sells “HHC flower”—which is hemp flower coated or infused with HHC in Florida. If HHC remains legally viable, and especially if it becomes less expensive to manufacture high-potency HHC, this promising cannabinoid will become more available in the diverse cannabis marketplace.

Sometimes, I Wonder. (the D.C. rider) sic

Sometimes, I Wonder. Failing to remove the D.C. rider prevents the nation’s capital from using local tax dollars to implement its legal cannabis program

President Joe Biden has once again moved to exclude Washington, D.C. from legalizing marijuana sales as part of the budget proposal for Fiscal Year 2023, which he sent to Congress Monday.

Despite DC voters having overwhelmingly approved cannabis legalization in 2014, the district government has consistently been prevented by a legislative rider from implementing regulated cannabis sales each time the budget comes up. Failing to remove the D.C. rider prevents the nation’s capital from using local tax dollars to implement its legal cannabis program.

“The nation’s capital could be a model for how to get cannabis legalization right. Instead, it’s the very opposite, and President Biden now shares some of the blame, told US Cannabis Council

CEO Steven Hawkins, adding that the administration is fueling a dangerous gray market in the District of Columbia that operates with no standards or safeguards that targets underage consumers.

Last week, the Drug Policy Alliance along with more than 50 criminal justice reform, business, labor and drug policy organizations, sent a letter to House and Senate appropriators and Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Speaker Nancy Pelosi, demanding to keep the removal of the appropriations rider that prevents DC from spending its own money to legalize and regulate adult-use marijuana sales.

In an election year with inflation off the charts and a war raging in Eastern Europe that could plunge the US economy into further crisis, one wonders why the administration would not seek to garner votes for its party’s candidates on a relatively non-controversial topic: cannabis legalization.

After all, nearly 70% of the country, Dems and Republicans alike obviously, have expressed their approval of it. And why would the president continually hamstring the nation’s capital wherein an equally vast majority voted to legalize and properly control cannabis?

“No one expects cannabis reform to be top of mind for a president facing down Russia, inflation and COVID-19. However, President Biden has consistently passed up opportunities to make good on his campaign commitments to pardon non-violent offenders, fund expungement programs, boost research and give states autonomy over their medical and adult-use programs,” said USCC’s Hawkins

But, if this bill gets stuck again, there may still be hope for federal cannabis legalization this session. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer has been talking up his own cannabis legalization legislation and recently said there are plans to file it in April. It’s called the Cannabis Administration & Opportunity Act.

His bill would legalize marijuana on the federal level, but ultimately leave it up to states to decide if they want to legalize.

That doesn’t bode well for people in a state like Texas, which is actively trying to ban smokable hemp, and psychoactive hemp products like delta-8 THC. A legal decision on smokable hemp in Texas is expected this summer.

“In some cases, the administration has even gone in reverse on cannabis. “

Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act is poised to end up on the House floor next week, Monday March 28th.

Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act is poised to end up on the House floor next week

See the source image

Rumors of a floor vote, coming from a congressional staffer and a key advocate familiar with the high-level discussions are being fueled by a closed-to-press session held weeks ago by congressional Democrats at a party retreat.

The session featured a panel on advancing marijuana reform. Cannabis advocates have been working tirelessly to bring a bill to federally legalize cannabis, to the House floor again this month.

The Marijuana Justice Coalition (MJC), a broad coalition of national advocacy organizations convened by the Drug Policy Alliance, including the American Civil Liberties Union and Human Rights Watch, sent a letter to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) earlier this month, calling for a floor vote on the bill.

Nadler’s bill was approved 26-15, with 24 Democrats joined by two Republicans at the House Judiciary Committee this session in September.

Congressional Democrats Elevate Marijuana Equity Issues At Retreat Panel Focused On Legalization

Democratic congressional lawmakers convened for a policy retreat in Philadelphia on Thursday that featured a panel on advancing marijuana reform with a focus on promoting equity.

Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA) moderated the cannabis panel, which largely centered on the need to ensure that those most impacted by prohibition can benefit from federal legalization. The Marijuana Opportunity, Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act, sponsored by House Judiciary Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), was specifically discussed as advocates push for a floor vote on the proposal this month.

A Democratic congressional staffer familiar with the panel told that “the congresswoman’s feeling is still that racial justice and restorative justice needs to be at the centerpiece of any cannabis legislation that we put forward,” referring to Lee.

Notably, the event took place the day after the Democratic-controlled House approved a large-scale spending bill that continues a long-standing appropriations rider blocking Washington, D.C. from allowing cannabis commerce despite local voters’ approval of legalization at the ballot in 2014.

Industrial Hemp Farm

Despite that legislative setback for reform, sources emphasized that the panel discussion at the retreat focused on ensuring that equity is a focal point of any broader legalization legislation that advances on Capitol Hill.

Supernova Women Executive Director Amber Senter, who is a constituent of Lee’s and participated on the panel, told Marijuana Moment that there was extensive discussion about equity programs and clearing up misconceptions about who would qualify for equity benefits under proposed legalization legislation.

“I’m an operator and owner of a cannabis business in Oakland. And I wanted the lawmakers to understand the difference between social equity and black business,” she said, “because a lot of the lawmakers believe that they’re all the same—that if you’re a black person, you qualify for social equity, and that’s simply not true.”

“They were shocked. They were very intrigued, very engaged and want to follow up to learn how to protect black business,” Senter said.

Attendees seemed “very willing and open to learning more information about what’s happening from the operators’ perspective,” she said. “That was very encouraging. Lots of times in these types of settings, it’s policymakers that are speaking to the legislators, and they rarely get to hear from the operators on the ground who are affected by all these policies.”

Minority Cannabis Business Association (MCBA) Executive Director Amber Littlejohn, who also participated in the session, told Marijuana Moment that “it is encouraging to see House Democrats continue to consider this issue—important enough to dedicate this type of time and thought to it” at the retreat.

“It’s particularly encouraging that the panelists that there were folks that are really centered on equity and ensuring that, as we legalize, it will be rooted in equity,” she said.

That point was echoed by Maritza Perez, another were panelist who serves as director of the office of national affairs at the Drug Policy Alliance. She told Marijuana Moment that the MORE Act “continues to be the most far-reaching bill that addresses social equity in marijuana in Congress.”

Also speaking on the panel was the Brookings Institution’s John Hudak.

This isn’t the first time that congressional Democrats have put marijuana reform on the agenda for similar closed-door retreats. In 2019, Lee and Rep. Earl Blumenauer (D-OR)—who are both co-chairs of the Congressional Cannabis Caucus—also moderated a panel raising the issue to colleagues.

The agenda for that event touched on everything from the consequences of cannabis criminalization to frameworks that states have established as they’ve moved to enact legalization.

While it remains to be seen whether House leadership will put the MORE Act back on the floor this month, as advocates are pushing for, the bill did clear the Judiciary Committee in September. It passed the full chamber last session in a historic vote in 2020.

Ahead of Thursday’s Democratic caucus retreat, a GOP congressman, Rep. Jim Banks (R-IN), made a dismissive comment about the opposite party’s legislative priorities.

As questions were being raised about the timeline for the Democratic retreat amid negotiations over omnibus legislation, he made a sarcastic comment on Twitter: “Oh no! Will this delay the drag show or the discussion on racial equity in the cannabis industry?”

Members of the House Judiciary Committee advanced the bill sponsored by Congressman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY), in September. The bill was approved 26-15, with 24 Democrats joined by two Republicans.

The MORE Act repeals the long-standing federal prohibition of marijuana by removing it from the Controlled Substances Act — thereby ending the state/federal conflict over cannabis policies and providing state governments with greater authority to regulate marijuana-related activities, including retail sales.

“This legislation would end federal marijuana prohibition, address the collateral consequences of federal marijuana criminalization, and take steps to ensure the legal marketplace is diverse and inclusive,” the letter states.

“Mass criminalization and over-enforcement of drug law violations have devastated the social and economic fabrics of entire communities (…) And while Black, Latino, and Indigenous people have carried the brunt of marijuana criminalization, they have been shut out of the regulated marijuana marketplace due to these very same criminal records in addition to financial barriers to entry.” The Coalition praised the MORE Act for its “comprehensive approach,” as the bill would declassify marijuana as a controlled substance under federal law, expunge marijuana convictions, and reduce marijuana sentences.

“The Congressional Budget Office estimates that the MORE Act would have reduced time served by 73,000 person-years, over the 2021-2030 period, among existing and future incarcerated individuals. The bill, after solving the industry’s 280E tax issue, would also place a minor initial five percent federal excise tax on marijuana sales at the manufacturer level in order to fund services in communities adversely impacted by drug prohibition and to build up Small Business Administration programming to support a more diverse and inclusive marketplace with local ownership,” explained the letter.

Your Endocannabinoid System and What is it?

OVER THE LAST TWO DECADES, RESEARCH ON THE EFFECTS OF CANNABIS ON THE HUMAN BODY LED TO THE DISCOVERY OF THE ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM.

Tap to activate or exit full screen

The endocannabinoid system (ECS) is a network of CB1 and CB2 cell receptors and the molecules that act on them. CB1 receptors are found mostly in tissues of the brain and the central nervous system (CNS).

CB2 receptors are found in the immune system, gastrointestinal tract, retina, and peripheral nervous system.

CB1 is expressed in the tissues of both the central nervous system (CNS) and the periphery, with a predominant expression on presynaptic nerves.

Cannabinoid Receptor Type 1

CB2, sometimes referred to as the “peripheral cannabinoid receptor”, is mainly expressed on immune cells but can also be found on other peripheral tissues such as the retina and in the CNS(Croxford and Yamamura 2005; Mackie 2006).

See the source image

Endocannabinoids act on CB1 and CB2 receptors to regulate core body functions, including metabolism, appetite, sleep, mood, pain, immune function, and muscle movement.

An irregularity of the ECS can result in pain, digestive issues, seizures, mental health concerns, and problems with mobility and balance. Endocannabinoids in the body are degraded by fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH).

See the source image
Fatty acid amide hydrolase

Cannabidiol (CBD), another component of medical marijuana, inhibits FAAH, allowing more naturally occurring endocannabinoids to remain active in the body.

Imbalances of the endocannabinoid system are associated with many diseases, explaining why medical marijuana has a beneficial effect on a variety of medical conditions.

Current research on the endocannabinoid system is seeking new treatments for autoimmune, inflammatory, and neurodegenerative diseases, as well as non-addictive ways to relieve pain.

The delta9-Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in marijuana resembles the endocannabinoid molecules, anandamide and 2-Ag, manufactured by the human body.

THC binds with CB1 and CB2 receptors to replace or augment naturally occurring endocannabinoid.

Balancing Your ECS Balancing Your ECS

CBD has been all the buzz.

The use of CBD products like tinctures, full-spectrum CBD oil, CBD gummies, and CBD soluble water as supplements has skyrocketed. And for good reason. CBD”s purported therapeutic benefits are more than enough to warrant attention.

Though studies are still ongoing, early signs from research indicate it might help with:

Memory – Mental health – Reward circuits – Digestion – Appetite – Immune system – Cardiovascular system – Skin, and much more.

So, how is it really that one compound might hold such a broad range of benefits?

What is the underlying mechanism that might just make all these benefits possible?

To know the answer to that, you first need to know about your Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

The Endocannabinoid System and Balancing Your ECS Unbeknownst to many CBD consumers, taking CBD supplements affects the equilibrium of their endocannabinoid system.

People worldwide are now taking or heavily considering taking CBD because its purported benefits might help them manage some conditions.

However, these benefits in themselves are simply the outcome of improving your bodies’ internal balance.

And that is precisely what the Endocannabinoid system actually does.

What Is the Endocannabinoid System (ECS)?

The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a neurotransmitter system that consists of a series of receptors found throughout the mammalian body. These receptors are in some of the most important structures inside your body, from the brain to all peripheral organs.

These particular receptors interact with endogenous cannabinoids/endocannabinoids.

The resulting interaction controls a vast array of physiological functions, including pain, appetite, mood, immune system, memory, and much more.

The Composition of the ECS

See the source image

Balancing Your ECS – How to Go About It the endocannabinoid system covers the brain to the most important organs

Three different components make up the endocannabinoids systems: Cannabinoid Receptors

There are two kinds of cannabinoid receptors: the CB1 receptors and the CB2 receptors.

Located on cell surfaces, what characterizes cannabinoid receptors is their interactions with their namesake, the cannabinoid compounds.

Said interactions result in the therapeutic benefits people say they experience when taking CBD, which is just one of many cannabinoids.

Since the ECS strives to achieve homeostasis in the body, the therapeutic effects are simply its way to achieve that end.

Usually, the body would use the endocannabinoids it produces on its own to do so.

Yet, by taking CBD products, you can help trigger said effects.

CB1 receptors are in high-density within the brain and the nervous system.

Therefore, they do influence brain functions, such as memory and appetite.

THC, the psychoactive cannabinoid that causes the marijuana high, binds to CB1 receptors hence the ‘high’ you experience with it.

On the other hand, CB2 receptors are most prevalent in the body organs, muscle tissues, immune system, and bones.

They influence the body’s pain managing response, particularly, the anti-inflammatory response.

Endocannabinoids

Endocannabinoids are cannabinoids produced by our own bodies.

They interact with and activate the CB1 and CB2 receptors, with each cannabinoid causing different body changes.

See the source image

Despite their origins, they are remarkably similar in structure to Phyto cannabinoids, the cannabinoids found in plants like industrial hemp or cannabis.

CBD itself is one Phyto cannabinoid found on those plants.

Enzymes ECS enzymes’ primary function is to break down and recycle endocannabinoids, thereby frequently making sure your body achieves homeostasis.

The Fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) enzyme breaks down anandamide, arguably the most important endocannabinoid.

The other major enzyme, the Monoacylglycerol lipase (MAGL) enzyme, breaks down the 2-AG once they have finished their work.

What Are the Endocannabinoids?

As mentioned above, endogenous cannabinoids, better known as endocannabinoids, are cannabinoids produced by the body.

The two main endocannabinoids include 2-arachidonoyl glycerol (2-AG) and anandamide (AEA).

2-AG seems to control appetite and the immune system. On the other hand, anandamide regulates mood.

When your body experiences imbalances, the ECS initiates a response to restore physiological balance, thereby achieving homeostasis.

What Is Homeostasis and Why It Is Important

The primary function of ECS is to achieve homeostasis.

So, what is homeostasis?

In simple terms, homeostasis means balance. Regarding health matters, homeostasis refers to achieving balance in our internal environment.

Body organs and, by extension, the human body, functions optimally in specific conditions.

Body homeostasis ensures every part of our body is within the right working range and, therefore, functions correctly.

The strife for homeostasis is evident in bodily functions such as temperature regulation, where you sweat to cool down or shiver to warm up.

The ECS plays a massive role in achieving balance in our internal systems, despite the tremendous external environment changes.

What Might Cause ECS Imbalance?

Many environmental factors and situations put stress on our bodies.

Often times, said stress it so much it overwhelms our systems and throws our internal balance into disarray.

Now more than ever, we are particularly exposed to said factors and situations.

By adequately identifying what might negatively affect us, we have the chance to avoid them or, at least, better control the outcome it has on our internal balance. Here are some of the things you should better control if you are looking to balancing your ECS.

Poor Diet

Research establishes that endocannabinoids produced in the periphery organs control our appetite.

Unfortunately, consuming a diet consisting of high sugar and fat levels can harm the endocannabinoid system, causing an imbalance.

Such diets increase the endocannabinoids produced in the intestines and circulating in the blood.

Consequently, the individual is at risk of developing hyperphagia. Hyperphagia is an abnormal desire for food, causing one to consume larger meals much more frequently.

Thus, making them very likely to become obese. Once someone has a lot of fat mass due to an unhealthy diet, the increased fat cells start to produce more endocannabinoids.

This, in turn, will further their desire to continue to eat a lot frequently. The production of endocannabinoids by fat cells is among the reasons why losing weight is difficult.

Emotional Stress

Research indicates that the ECS system plays a vital role in regulating the stress response. Everyday short-term stress is helpful, and in many ways, it is critical to our survival. When exposed to stress, your body will respond by reducing the anandamide levels.

Thus, causing you to feel stressed, anxious, or agitated. At the same time, stress causes an increase in the production of 2-AG, which reduces pain reception. 2-AG also enhances your cognitive functions, including memory, to help you get out of danger.

However, exposure to chronic stress causes desensitization of CB1 receptors. The high levels of 2-AG overstimulate the CB1 receptors.

(Abstract

The CB1 cannabinoid receptor is a G protein coupled receptor that is widely expressed throughout the brain. The endogenous ligands for the CB1 receptor (endocannabinoids) are N-arachidonylethanolamine and 2-arachidonoylglycerol; together the endocannabinoids and CB1R subserve activity dependent, retrograde inhibition of neurotransmitter release in the brain. Deficiency of CB1 receptor signaling is associated with anhedonia, anxiety, and persistence of negative memories. CB1 receptor-endocannabinoid signaling is activated by stress and functions to buffer or dampen the behavioral and endocrine effects of acute stress. Its role in regulation of neuronal responses is more complex. Chronic variable stress exposure reduces endocannabinoid-CB1 receptor signaling and it is hypothesized that the resultant deficiency in endocannabinoid signaling contributes to the negative consequences of chronic stress. On the other hand, repeated exposure to the same stress can sensitize CB1 receptor signaling, resulting in dampening of the stress response. Data are reviewed that support the hypothesis that CB1 receptor signaling is stress responsive and that maintaining robust endocannabinoid/CB1 receptor signaling provides resilience against the development of stress-related pathologies.)

The body compensates this by desensitizing or reducing the number of CB1 receptors. Consequently, this creates an imbalance in the ECS system. Disease Research linking ECS imbalance to arthritis, depression, PTSD, Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and other diseases is underway. That said, there are indications that certain conditions might have more than a casual relationship with ECS imbalance.

This theory might explain why some patients might better manage their ailments by taking CBD products to rebalance the ECS.

In other instances, the ECS imbalance seems to cause the disease.

Drugs Studies indicate some pharmaceutical and recreational drugs, including alcohol, stimulate an increase in endocannabinoids’ production.

Thus, it might overstimulate cannabinoid receptors, especially CB1 receptors. Consequently, the body downregulates receptors as a compensation mechanism, thereby creating an imbalance in the system.

Your Genetics

There are cases where individuals have inherent ECS unbalances built into their genetic makeup.

Unfortunately, these are something they cannot get rid of completely.

For instance, a 2015 discovery reported in the New York Times indicates that approximately 20% of Americans have a mutation that degrades the anandamide.

Such individuals have an inherent imbalance that compromises their response to stress while increasing their risk of suffering from obesity.

The Best Methods for Balancing Your ECS

Balancing Your ECS – How to Go About physical exercise is one of the most fun ways of balancing your ECS

When such imbalances arise, one possible way of achieving homeostasis is to supplement your diet with CBD products.

CBD interacts with CB1 receptors, thereby supplementing the endocannabinoids in your body that are not enough to restore balance at a given moment.

The compound also boosts the endogenous cannabinoids by reducing their breakdown.

By preventing the degradation of endocannabinoids, CBD ensures your body has an ample supply of homeostasis-inducing compounds. Aside from supplementing with CBD, there are also other means of balancing your ECS, including: Physical Exercising

Engaging in physical exercise is known for its benefits in maintaining a healthy weight level.

Additionally, exercise can also elevate the anandamide levels in your blood, which rebalances the ECS. The increased 2-AG in your blood also enhances your ability to manage pain and reduce anxiety and stress, improving your mood.

Taking Herbs

Some herbs and teas contain compounds that enhance ECS balancing. Herbs containing the terpene beta-caryophyllene such as cloves, oregano, black pepper, and cinnamon can help balance the ECS.

This compound only stimulates the CB2 receptors and helps combat inflammation. Fasting While unconventional, fasting can help balance your ECS. Being in a fasted state enhances increases the 2-AG levels in your body as your body stocks hunger.

The elevated amount of 2-AG will still yield anandamide’s associated benefits, including inflammation and anxiety relief. Eating A Healthy Diet Consuming a poorly-balanced diet consisting of high omega-6 fatty acids induces imbalances in your ECS.

To counter this, you should prioritize consuming a balanced diet with an ample supply of omega-3 fatty acids. Fatty acids from hemp milk, fish and fish oil, walnuts, chia seeds, and flaxseeds end up converting into endocannabinoids.

Thus, help you in balancing your ECS. Detoxing Abusing alcohol, THC, and other recreational and pharmaceutical drugs overstimulates CB1 receptors, thus, causing desensitization. You can counter these effects by detoxing.

Evidence suggests that the CB1 receptors can return to their natural state after months of detoxing. By detoxing and abstaining from drug abuse, your ECS will regain some balance in time.

Meditating

As mentioned above, chronic stress is one of the most common causes of ECS imbalance.

Thus, it’s better to relax. There are no studies yet on whether meditating can help balance your ECS.

However, some reports show mindful meditation as effective in quelling anxiety and stress, something that definitively counts as ‘relaxing.’

Enjoying Some Sunlight Basking in the sun is vital for more than getting some Vitamin D.

Solar UV light is essential in the production of 2-AG, especially during winter months.

Elevating 2-AG by soaking some sunlight can help rebalance your ECS system.

Balancing Your ECS –

The Takeaway

The modern world undoubtedly offers us an ever-increasing set of choices of things that might end up causing an ECS imbalance. It is then up to us to take matters into our own hands and be mindful of our habits.

Regularly engaging in habits that help balancing your ECS and limiting those that do not might go a long way in maintaining our internal balance. And with that, helps us feel better in our day to day lives.

Also, if you need to have a little extra help in balancing your ECS, there’s always CBD products.

Supplementing your endocannabinoids level with a Phyto cannabinoid may boost your ECS back into balance.

Just remember to talk with a doctor before taking CBD, especially if you are already on some other medication.
